Ricardo is a UX Manager on Shopify’s Retail Team. The core focus of his work in the Foundations team involves empowering the Retail team to produce their best work; raising the measure of quality holistically and intentionally. His team achieves this by building, maintaining, documenting, and continually evolving the Polaris for Retail design system among other initiatives. Throughout his career, Ricardo has garnered experience designing for mobile at companies such as Mozilla Firefox, FreshBooks, and 500px. Ricardo is continually striving for courage, happiness of pursuit, and leadership from the heart. When not designing, you’ll find him noodling on his guitar, and rowing in rivers all over Canada.
Steve is Co-founder of Biglight, the retail experience design agency. Biglight helps brands shape and deliver digital transformation strategies that are rooted in a profound understanding of customer needs. Biglight's clients include Adidas, ASDA, Boden, Eurostar, Halfords, M&S, The North Face, Timberland and Vans. From 1999-2004 Steve was at Dixons Group where he held a number of senior roles, before becoming Director of Advertising and Direct Businesses.
Head of UX/UI, IKEA
Shilpi Sinha is the acting Head of UX/UI at IKEA Group Digital, building an in-house team from scratch and evangelizing Experience Design throughout the organisation. Her mission is to enable the innovation and creation of more personal, inspiring and convenient experiences for the many people at a global scale. She started her journey at IKEA as a Management Trainee after some time in Silicon Valley where she worked with start-ups and trendspotting. Prior to her current position, Shilpi supported the CIO with the Group Digital Strategy, laying the ground for the upcoming Transformation. Following this, she was part of building a new Recommendation Engine for IKEA. The successful results from this broke new ground in terms of utilizing AI and Machine Learning to provide a more personalized experience for their customers. With a Bachelor’s in Industrial Design Engineering, Shilpi’s main areas of interest are Design Research and Usability. When those don’t consume all her attention, she enjoys books, documentaries and scrolling through the countless rabbit accounts she follows on social media.
Senior Product Manager, Tesco Labs
Ross is passionate about human centred design, with experience building products in both corporate and start-up environments. He currently works at Tesco Labs, a unique future focused research and development team, managing various products, aimed at designing the future of retail. Most recently launching, “Talk to Tesco” the voice based grocery shopping service available via Google Assistant. He previously worked in education-technology, working across numerous start-ups, creating, launching and scaling products in different global markets.

Johnny leads Product, Design, and Customer service at Hostelworld. Quach is a versatile entrepreneur with experience building simple, thoughtful products in multiple industries. He has a reputation for making impact — fast. Johnny previously held similar positions at Airhelp, Rocket Internet, and Match.com. Additionally, he’s built 3 companies himself in the past. Among his additional accomplishments, Johnny lists being ranked in the top 3% of North American Starcraft 2 players, played poker for a living for 2 years, and was apart of a break dancing team that won Season 2 of “America’s Best Dance Crew”.

Constantine is a Design leader with more than 15 years of experience dedicated to Customer Experience. The last decade he has spent in the ecommerce & omni-shopping field working with apparel brands, including Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Danish Fast-fashion powerhouse BESTSELLER (Jack&Jones, Vero Moda, ONLY, Selected). Recently he joined Intersport to head User Experience and help growing their Sports Goods business capitalising on digital channels and an intersection with almost 6k physical locations present in every corner of the world.

As well as digital product development, he led the transformation of technical architecture, internal organisation and processes for IWM. Ryan O’Connor is Director of UX and Design at travel media scale-up Culture Trip. Having joined two years ago, Ryan’s been building and fostering Product Design and Research teams in London and Tel Aviv. Along with that, he’s been overseeing the teams redesigning the entire Web and App Product experience, including the integration of new trip planning functionality such as hotel and experience booking. Prior to that Ryan was a Creative Director for BBC News UX+D. There he oversaw teams of UX Designers looking at BBC News projects such as the BBC digital election services, redesigning the BBC News App and rebranding and relaunching the youth news service Newsbeat. Ryan came to BBC News after being Head of Design at AOL - Huffington Post in London, having spent several years in AOL’s international design teams. Originally from Toronto, Canada he loves the role UX design plays in problem solving and acting as a bridge between Product, Developers, Editorial and Creative teams.

Digital Transformation Expert
Karen Cham is Professor of Digital Transformation Design at the University of Brighton and leads ‘Connected Futures’ research that includes Digital Economy, Digital Health, Immersive, Simulations & Virtualisation and Complex Systems. She is the Principal Investigator of ‘DRIVA’, a £1.3m data innovation project with Gatwick Airport and named academic on the Digital Catapult Centres £1.2m ‘5G Brighton’ testbed, a named part of the UK Governments 5G Strategy. She has 25 years experience in user centred design for Next Gen digital, including products & services; production methods; business, management & migration models & transformational strategies and is now a UK Govt advisor and an internationally recognised expert in human machine convergence. Clients have included PlayStation, Diesel, ITV, Which?, Top Shop & EY. Her current research concerns cognitive computing and valuable singularities in IoT, robotics and immersive environments in the context of 5G enabled human centred networks.
